“I paid! — Prove it.” The whole value of a rent receipt lies in making that conversation unnecessary.
Receipt vs rent receipt
A payment receipt proves a payment — even a partial one. A rent receipt proves the period is fully settled. A tenant who paid 40,000 out of 55,000 is entitled to a payment receipt, not yet to a rent receipt.
Who must issue it?
The landlord, as soon as the period’s rent is settled. Refusing it invites disputes lost in advance: without proof of payment, it is word against word — and doubt serves no one.
Why it protects the landlord too
A dated, referenced rent receipt establishes the agreed amount and the regularity of the relationship. In case of litigation (later arrears, eviction), a clean file of receipts carries real weight.
With Bailor, the rent receipt goes out automatically as soon as the invoice is settled — an official PDF, dated, referenced, in French or English.
